Media is dishonestReader comment on item: Anatomy of a Media Error: MEF and the Koch Brothers Submitted by Prashant (United States), Mar 13, 2018 at 15:11 Dear Dr Pipes, It will be wrong to call the media and academics sloppy. It is more likely that they are dishonest. Imagine --for the sake of argument-- that a journalist or academician is writing about the democratic rights of Muslims in the USA. Only a complete bigot will say that Muslims should not have democratic rights in non-Muslim societies. We do not expect people to remain quiet if democratic rights of Muslims or any one else are violated. But no honest journalist or writer should ignore the facts that Islamic societies, themselves, are non-democratic and, in fact, Islamic doctrine leaves a lot to be desired when freedom to think and act is the issue. No article about democratic rights of Muslims in the West should be written without making a direct appeal to Muslims to work for democracy inside and outside of their native lands and to question Islamic doctrines that deny Muslim and non-Muslim people the right to freely think and act. Unfortunately, the media make no such appeal. They make no effort to speak the whole truth. Most media outlets in the world are manned by very educated and intelligent people who are trained to look at every problem from all angles and have studied in the best schools. But, still, they do not look at the full Islamic picture and they do not speak the inconvenient truth. And that is why I think they not are misguided or naive. They are just dishonest. They want to get published and, almost always, the truth is more difficult to get published than everything else.
