Conversion of Muslims to a moderate Islam or other moderate religions is the only solutionReader comment on item: "Transfer" the Palestinians? Reasons Against Submitted by Prashant, Mar 16, 2018 at 17:15 Dear Dr Pipes, I must congratulate your reader Reynald de Chatillon for his brief but very well articulated letter entitled "Israel's long term survival." Mr. Chatillon has very correctly identified that Muslim populations stubbornly refuse to assimilate with the local populations. And, at least when it comes to interacting with non-Muslims, Muslims are strict followers of their religion. Their definitions of what is good, what is right, what is God, and how He should be prayed are very deeply straight-jacketed and there is little room of flexibility in those definitions. But it is not just Israel whose long term survival is threatened. Every democratic nation where Muslims reach about 25% of population is under immediate threat. First, if the concentration of Islamic population is near the national border, they will violently demand a separate nation (as in the case of Indian Kashmir). Second, they will speak to support Islamic agenda with remarkable unity (as indicated by the views of millions of Islamic apologists all of the world). Third, in democratic elections they will vote as a single block as if no other issue except Islam matter. Fourth, they will very strongly support immigration of Muslims into the countries in which they are in minority. Consider, for example, the case of Burmese Muslims. I have heard hundreds of Indian Muslims supporting the cause of the Burmese Muslims in India but I have not heard even one Indian Muslims say that Burmese refugees can very easily be settled in the rich and extremely sparsely populated Saudi Arabia. (So, Islamic charity, starts in the non-Muslim democratic home and never enters the Islamic regions of the world), Sixth, it is well known that birth rate among Muslims in democratic societies is higher. For example, according to the Times of Israel, in 2000 the birth rate of Muslims in Israel was 4.3% while that of Jews was 2.6%. Only recently the birth rate of both Jews and Muslims in Israel has achieved a parity (3.13% in 2016). And, finally the seventh, Muslim laws of marriage between faiths are blatantly pro-Islam and extremely inflexible. As the percentage of Muslim population increases, the above factors accelerate and take a compounding effect and the process continues until the population of Muslims reaches 98%. Historically, this phenomenon is repeated in the entire ME, in Indonesia, in Pakistan, and in Turkey and every where the Muslims have been. So, I have no doubt that Israel's long term survival is threatened. Reynald de Chatillon mentioned that the solution of transferring Muslim populations out of Israel suggested by Meir Kahane was a plausible one. I am afraid such is not the case. You see, illegal immigration will always come to Muslim's 'rescue'. Due to their excessive focus on religion and politics, to non-democratic mind sets, to the victim-mentality and, to excessive birth rate, Muslims are usually poorer and are more willing to migrate to other countries and take the worst of the available jobs. There is no shortage of poor Bangladeshi laborers in India and there is no shortage of Halal food carts in New York waiting to be manned! So if Israel transfers its Muslim population elsewhere at 7 PM, they will be right back at 7 AM. So what is the solution? I think the only way that can work is to convert Muslims to a moderate form of Islam and to other religions. If Muslims do not define a moderate Islam, we will have to define it for them. We will need to tell them that Islamic non-separation of church and state is absurd. We will need to tell them it is also absurd that democracy is admired by Muslims in non-Muslim societies but the favor is not returned by Muslims. We will have to highlight the hidden selfishness in Islamic laws about inter-faith marriages. We will have to say it over and over again that theocracies are illegal and wars to create future theocracies are not worthy of support, In short, every example of hypocrisy in the Islamic behavior will need to be attacked so Muslims are forced to create a moderate Islam. And we will need to define the moderate Islam for them. If this means questioning portions of Quran, so be it. And, since, freedom of thought is so precious, we will need to tell Muslims that converting out of Islam is as auspicious an event as converting into Islam because they both support human freedom of thought.
