Alternative scenarioReader comment on item: The End of Carbon Fuels? Submitted by Cary Hillebrand (United States), Jun 19, 2018 at 20:02 With the decline of the world's dependence on hydrocarbons, the West will not be hostage to the despotic regimes that sit on the oil. There may be a gradual or phased loss of interest in the Middle East. CNN and the BBC may not rush to the spot every time somebody burps in the West Bank. Without this constant spotlight of attention, regimes will need to stop blaming Israel for their own failings and begin to sort things out and get their houses in order to avoid internal upheaval.
