Do we concur with Brigitte Gabriel's figureReader comment on item: Poland's Muslim Ban Submitted by Prashant, Aug 6, 2018 at 22:01 Dear Dr Pipes, Your reader Reynald de Chatillon cited Brigitte Gabriel's book and asked whether we concur with her figures that millions of Christian, Buddhist, Hindus, and Africans were killed by Muslim invaders. I do not know to what extent Ms Gabriel's numbers are correct but I know for sure that doctrinally there is no separation between church and state in Islam and there is enough material in the Quran that suggests extreme mistreatment of non-Muslims under one pretext or the other. I also know that except some ambiguous apologies (like read the Quran in original Arabic and in full context), there is no evidence that modern Muslims really care about applying the principles of democracy, freedom, and secularism to non-Muslims in Islam-controlled regions of the world. This is what needs to change. Muslims need to be reminded relentlessly that the rest of the world will not rest in peace until there is proper secular democracy in the Islamic world. If it involves reinterpreting/rewriting Quranic verses, so be it. I can say it with no hesitation because I, as a Hindu, routinely ignore those parts of Hindu religion that seem to support the caste system.
