Reader comment on item: Why Turkey supports Venezuela's socialist dictatorship
in response to reader comment: Muslims in Venezuela!

Dear Dr Pipes, You stated that even though 90% of Egypt's population is Muslim, Ergodan is not friendly toward Egypt. But Islamic politics follows an inverse logic. As long as the umma is in minority or small majority, all Muslims will be very friendly toward the umma. But as soon as the majority becomes around 90% they start brotherly fights (or I should say fratricidal fights) with in the umma. Pakistan-Afghanistan, Iran-Iraq, Pakistan-and-the-then-East-Pakistan, Various feuding factions in Syria, Kurdistan-Turkey, KSA-Yemen are all present and past examples of this dictum. It is about land-acquisition. As long as the land needs to be acquired for Islam, the umma needs support. Once the land is occupied, they are free to fight.
