The American ethos of reverence to GodReader comment on item: Making Sense of Palestinian Logic Submitted by Al Rodbell (United States), May 19, 2019 at 15:17 The current makeup of our two party system is that both support a national motto of "In God we Trust." The Islam Diety and that of Christianity and Judaism is the same from the old testament. This had a purpose during the cold war, when our enemy was defined by atheism, but no longer. Today's Muslim countries can be primitive in hatred or more sophisticated, such as Saudi Arabia use of this to justify carnage of their own and others. What the U.S. has sacrificed is all that has been known from Darwin, DNA and the massive understanding of genomics that allows us to understand reality. Both political parties demand that the many atheists such as Bernie Sanders and Mike Bennet, will not assert that God is a human projection rather than an actual entity. Actually this can be stated, but not by one who needs votes. I contend that once the first stone is cast, once a presidential candidate carefully defines his or her atheism it will be accepted as fast as being gay now is actually an asset. It is a mass fear that is an paradoxical esample of the well known bandwagon effect. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
