Response to Mr AhmedReader comment on item: How Terrorism Obstructs Radical Islam Submitted by SULTAN (Turkey), Aug 31, 2005 at 15:29 Dear Ahmed,My English is not so well. Also I am not an expert in religions or politics. I am just an ordinary engineer (muslim person) living in İstanbul. But here reading the posts and some of the Mr Pipes articles all sounds not very logical to me.These opinions are all the same and represents typical of Mr Bush's political direction which I very very very strongly believe is a threat to the world as a whole. This scares me. My reasons and opinions are as follows, ....islam is not a uniform religion. Sudan,Khazakistan,İran,Albania,Yemen,Morocco, Nigeria and the other 50 countries are very different from each other. So you can not see İslam as a uniform enemy against to Christianity. Also Bolivia,Romania,Venezuella,USA and Kenya and the other 90 christian countries are not a uniform christian front. iranians hate Saudis and Brazilians hate Americans.(not the people the politics I mean). Only few countries have sharia rules. For example I am very sure that Azerbeycan, khırgızistan, uzbekistan, Khazakistan, morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, lebanon, Syria and many many others dont adopt sharia laws.So to prove rape is not so impossible as you say. İt is the same as in your country. Also it dont matter what you say, I am very sure that rape crime is much less here than in USA: At least one country Turkey is directed under secular laws for more than 75 years now.so you must not generilize that islam, secular system and democracy cannot live together. İt is a long story to explain why islam is a peaceful religion. But simply, some of the words written in kuran that you call violent are defensive and were written to make islam to survive for those beginning days.İf you look carefully you can easily read the peaceful words like "no man can kill no man". On the other hand I agree that the muslims who live in the western countries must obey the laws of the countries they live in.if the laws and system of the country they live do not permit muslim way to live than they either must leave that country or live like the others live.Because the way you dress or woman man relationships are secondary rules in islam. The main goal is to be a good person. I am very sure that the terrorism going on today has nothing to do with islam. for so many years ı have not heard one single violent word against anybody in the mosques. Last month one syrian terrorist was cought in Antalya just before attacking to İsraeli tourist ship. and in the house they lived there were many bombs and viski bottles and they were partying with Russian women every night. So what kind of devoted muslims are these terrorists?it is all a lie. This is a war between saudi mentality and american mentality, nothing else. All politics... Finally, my wife is half turkish muslim and half Lebanese christian.(she is a muslim but she has sympathy to christianity also)Her father was living in Baghdat .because of wars with iran and saddams tortures they escaped to Turkey in 1994.But her father was the last one to leave the country and unfortunately he was caught in the last moment before he left and he was executed.so we very well know how terrible saddam was.But if today even we who has nothing to do with sharia or extreme islam and lost our father by saddam say that americans has to leave ıraq immediately and that they are creating tragedy there, than you people have to think one more time. ...
