Extension of SovereigntyReader comment on item: A Reply to My Critics [Concerning Israel's Annexation of the West Bank] Submitted by Phillip Nagle (United States), May 11, 2020 at 11:57 First, the premise is wrong, Israel will be extending sovereignty only to Jewish areas in Judea and Samaria not Arab majority areas. Second, by not doing this, Israel keeps alive the fiction that the 1948 cease fire lines have any legitimacy. They exist because the army of Transjordan, now Jordan, which was little more than a British colonial army, complete with British officers, invaded Israel. Only three nations recognized Jordan's illegal annexation of Judea and Samaria. Finally, by extending sovereignty to Jewish areas of Judea and Samaria, Israel puts pressure on the so called Palestinians to make peace, making it clear that the longer it takes to make peace, the less the Arabs will get.
