Cary, Trump and COVID-19 and the regressive left

Dr. Pipes,

It seems that every member of the regressive left and his cousin likes to remind us that more than 200,000 Americans died due to the "China Virus."

Just a bit of Math (sorry epidemiology is full of math): Mortality Rate = Number of population in a certain area at a point in time (divide by) the number of those that died in this case due to COVID-19 in the same area at a point in time.

Notice that there is a difference between: "Died from" and "Died with" as one would find in a death certificate. Example: a young man dies in a car accident and the autopsy reveals that he was positive for COVID-19 this person "Died with and not from Covid)

Now, the CDC tells us that only 6% died from Covid-19 and the rest had existing co-morbidities that were the primary cause of death. And as usual the MSM comes to the rescue and here is from no other than the BBC

Yes, it is sad that people are dying from/with Covid-19 but it seems that those that "died from" is less than the 200,000 plus mortality.

And remember that the "experts" were telling us early this year that mortality due to Covid-19 would be more than 2 millions!

How do I rate Trump about his handling of this pandemic? This is a Novel Coronavirus that we just did not know anything about. And to add insult to injury the failed WHO in a tweet dated Jan 14/2020 told the whole world that there is no evidence of "human to human transmission"! Remember that this is a virus in the same family as the virus of the common cold so logic dictates that the mode of transmission is via droplets. So what one should do? Isolate and ask questions! How do you isolate? Lockdowns and close borders and reassess and this is indeed what was done. In the meantime doctors work on the treatment (be it anti-viral medications, immunotherapy, treating the severe "Cytokine storm" and "DIC which stands for Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation" and this is what kills the patient, and lately doctors have been very successful in the management of the disease. Last, work ending the lockdown, identify the groups that at the highest risk of dying from the infection and continue their isolation as well as getting a vaccine.

I do believe that if it was not possible to develop a vaccine for the 2003 SARS virus of the MESARS of 2011 (and both are form the same family) then it might not be possible to have a vaccine in the near future

I think Trump did very well.
