Letter to Dr. PipesReader comment on item: Why I'm Voting for Trump Submitted by Vadim Anshelevich (United States), Oct 26, 2020 at 15:35 Dear Dr. Pipes, For several decades, conservatives-republicans- libertarians have been losing to progressives. We have lost the education including the higher education, the press and the media, majority of think tanks, the CIA, State Department, and other governmental institutions, significant number of churches, etc. We have lost all our major cities and almost the entire California. We have already lost out history and in a serious danger of losing the Constitution including the freedom of speech. We are losing the coming generation We allowed tens of millions of foreigners to live illegally in the country, and we allowed millions more legal immigrants who do not feel any allegiance, but contempt for the country, not just come here, but become citizens and have a say regarding the future of the country. For several decades, we have been losing the cultural and ideological war with the forces who challenge the traditional values of the country on all fronts. Why has this happened? Maybe because the one side is fighting, and the other side, our side, is too righteous to fight? And, sure, we were and are more than happy to blame anybody but ourselves for our failures. With our tacit consent, US sent billions of dollars as well as millions of jobs to China in order for us to be able to buy cheap merchandize made in China. With our tacit consent more dollars and more jobs were sent to other countries around the world. Thanks to the McCain, the presidential candidate for president we have selected, we have finally lost the fight against ObamaCare. Sure, he was too righteous to vote with the President. Our other loser, the presidential candidate, Romney, clearly stated that he does not worry about 47% of American population and cannot rely on their support. He was right, by the way, he can not. Now, it looks that he does not care about people who voted for our president either. Sure, he is too righteous to support this "deplorable" president. Now we have a president who does care about all Americans and who promised to reverse those decades' long negative trends. He won the presidency with little Republican support and despite the wishes of Bushes, McCains, Romneys, etc., and despite the wishes of National Review - the bastion of conservative-republican-libertarian thinking. With very few activists around him, but with a massive enthusiastic support from the people, he has been heroically trying to implement his vision of Making America Great Again. He did not get much support from you either, mostly the contempt. Do you want to have a president who would better satisfy your taste? If you do, then find him and fight for him and with him. Was it "compassionate" Bush Jr, who wanted to bring a utopian "democracy" to Iraq by sacrificing lives of our soldiers? Or maybe McCain or Romney, who twice lost to Barak Hussein Obama, a progressive black nationalist with Muslim roots? Where is your ideal conservative-republican- libertarian savior who would satisfy your taste? If this is Vice President Pence, then in contrast to you, Pence firmly stands behind the President. Now we are in a situation when the President and everything he has been trying to accomplish can be stopped, his attempts to reverse the negative trends can be stopped, and his accomplishments are reversed. We are now in the fight for the very survival of American civilization. I know that you are not on the side of those who want to destroy the very fabric of American society. But you are not on the Trump side either. We finally have a leader who wants and is able to lead us to victory or at least to stop the retreat and to go on the offensive to restore American traditional values and to Make America Great Again. Will we follow him and fight with him or will we use all his real and imaginary deficiencies to weaken him? Our enemies are united and organized. They formed an alliance of classical Marxists, pseudo-intellectuals, progressives, so-called feminists, black supremacists, Islamists, atheists, and others. They have very different and even contradictory ideologies, but they are united by their contempt for American traditional values and the American way of life. They work in unison and they have money and the most of the press and media on their side. What about our side? Are we ready to fight against them for our values and our way of life with our President as a leader, or will we continue to whine that he does not satisfy our dreams about a perfect leader? I am afraid this could become the last chapter in the great history of America. We cannot say that we didn't play a role in all this. Dr. Pipes, you have a lot of people who read you and listen to you. Your "I reluctantly vote for Trump" is very far from what is necessary from a leader like you. We have to stop whining and fight for the President and with the President to win. If he loses the fight, we will lose. I am afraid this could be the final defeat. And my expressing reluctance enhances my credibility among other conservatives who recoil from Trump's personality and errors. Reader comments (86) on this item
