Conversion of convenience?Reader comment on item: What Does "Extreme Vetting" Mean? Submitted by Malcolm Smith (Australia), Feb 1, 2021 at 00:41 With regard to Othman Hamdan, I read the court decision and noted paragraph 10: " Mr. Hamdan has testified that he was never baptized, could not remember the addresses of any of the churches he may have allegedly attended in Canada, or the names of anyone who may have seen him at a Christian church. " Why weren't these questions put to him prior to the original decision granting him refugee status? As a Christian myself, I can think of many questions which could have been asked in order to weed out a false convert from a real one. This is not a case of vetting Islamists, but of establishing refugee status. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
