Bush DoctrineReader comment on item: Defending and Advancing Freedom Submitted by Lamar Carnes (United States), Nov 2, 2005 at 14:14 President Bush's direction concerning the development of democratic principles in the Middle East and around the entire globe is certainly a worthy project and should be supported. My reason for this is that our world now has access to modern technologies that the "old world" did not have which makes it very easy for rogue type nations and peoples to create difficult situations for the peoples of their own nations and their imporatation of activities which create serious problems for the entire world. I speak specifically of terrorism and drug cartel type activities along with dictatorial slave type control of peoples in various communities and states around the world. Also, I think President Bush's pre-emptive actions toward those nations and/or peoples who advocate or get involved in the proliferation of terrorism must be stopped at the point where it starts if the world is to have peace and security for its peoples. Previously, I think it was wise to let peoples and nations alone unless they became a great problem outside of their own boundries. But today, we do not have that option due to modern technolgies which give those type of nations and/or peoples quick develivery of their ill will to others thus creating chaos and destruction in their trails! We must now engage in a "new world" of protection and also preventative measures. As long as the world community continues to provide economic aid, business activity and the sale of modern weaponry and abilities to develop such we as a Nation have a moral and ethical responsibility to proceed with ideas such as President Bush has formulated.
