KSA could learn from BahrainReader comment on item: "Saudi Arabia to End Wheat Growing" Submitted by Dave (United States), May 30, 2022 at 16:38 The war in Ukraine has accelerated the consumer shift to EVs thanks to high gas prices, and that represents yet another step in the long march away from oil. Despite their vast reserves, the Saudis should look ahead to the day when their main export will be less important. Their effort to diversify their economy makes sense, but the example of Bahrain could serve as a guide. Bahrain has been quite successful at diversification, made necessary by their dwindling oil reserves. Bahrain's partnership with Israel via the Abraham Accords helps in this effort via trade; it also helps militarily in defending their country against extremist forces such as Iran. That makes much more sense than fighting a retrograde war against Israel and then trying to insulate the country a la North Korea by growing wheat.
