Anon is right but the real purpose is even more nefariousReader comment on item: The Rushdie Affair Revisited Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 19, 2022 at 16:02 Dear Dr Pipes, Reader Anon is correct when they say, "The real danger for Rushdie comes from the thousands and thousands of Islamists living in the West.". But the real purpose of the attack on Rushdie is to intimidate every one who speaks anything about Islam. Just like Geert Wilders of Netherlands, most recently an Indian lawmaker, Nupur Sharma, is under threat for criticizing Muhammad. Islamic bottom line is simple: the best way to stop being criticized in not to improve yourself. The best way is to kill and threaten those who criticize Islam. Will Salman Rushdie be able to speak his mind freely now? Can critics of Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. speak freely? Know the difference and do not believe any one that Islam is the fastest growing religion on its merit. It is the fastest growing religion by compulsion.
