OreintalismReader comment on item: Overcoming Orientalism Submitted by Kepha (United States), Dec 8, 2022 at 20:32 I despise the attack on "Orientalism" made by people like Edward Said. This attack strikes at the very intellectual curiosity and free inquiry about the world which made the West great. Besides, the West's own culture is rooted in a religion first given in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek languages. Thus, from its inception, the West had to study "the Other". Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
