An instructive lesson from recent Iranian history

Thank you for your elucidations. I understand I was not right in questioning the general point.

"Isn't it a little exaggerated statement? Wasn't it the Khomeini regime that exterminated the godless Tudeh between 1982 and 1984 according to the detailed information on the party leadership and membership provided the mullahs by the CIA, if I am not mistaken?"

I wrote: "The Left acted as the intelligence arm of the barbaric Islamic regime leading to the death of tens of thousands of Iranians. When Khomeini built his own intelligence he targeted the Left and executed thousands of communists who had killed thousands of Iranians for Khomeini's regime." What exaggeration? It is a pure fact.

I agree. But I think that something might be added here about the Iranian communists as a warning example for today's leftists and their sympathisers. The Iranian communists had been persecuted and banned under the shah regime and in 1979 they thought (prompted by their masters from Moscow who supported the Iranian revolution at first) they would take revenge and by allying themselves with the mullahs 'push Khomeini to the left" . Khomeini accepted their offer and shrewdly used them to get rid of the right ("bourgeois") opposition promising them more power. When this dirty job was done it was turn to finish the communists off. They wanted to push him to the left and he pushed them to hell.

I would like to see some comments by W. Blum on this instructive lesson of history on what happens to the "cordial" cooperation between the leftists and Islam when the honeymoon is over.
