Why is Bush So Adamant That Islam is a Religion of Peace?Reader comment on item: The Snipers: Crazy or Jihadis? Submitted by Joe Levi (United States), Oct 30, 2002 at 07:55 There is an evangelical TV station with affiliates throughout the United States whose news broadcasters consistently repeat that "not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims". ..I have to ask myself constantly why virtually all the terror attacks are in some way linked to Muslims? Or as Peter Jennings on TV asked about 2 years ago, "why do they hate us so much?" Some say it's because we support the only democratic state in the Middle East, Israel. Some say it's because we have a presence (troops) in the Gulf States and Saudi Arabia. Some say it's because we warred against the Taliban and Al Qaeda and Iraq (Gulf War) and others look to our almost certain attack againt Iraq due to its violations of the cease fire that ended its invasion of a fellow Muslim country, Kuwait, and to avoid having to strike after it acquires a nuclear capability. I for one, believe John Muhammad had several motives. He hated the United States for what he perceived as bigotry against Blacks (a common resentment among many), he was disturbed and troubled, and he saw Muslims as victims of the Jewish-Christian culture, the Zionists and Israel. He was in the military but expected to choose his own wars-as also is common among some. But whatever his reasons, this must not be allowed to occur again. America must wake up to the reality that this country has been harboring a group of people, from diverse backgrounds, with one thing in common...that is Jihad. And their definition of Jihad means liquidating as many Jews and Christians as possible. They hate everything we stand for, and presumably prefer the totalitarian life on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Libya. To that extent, it's time the Federal employee labor unions start considering that their demands for representation must yield to the better good, the protection of all of the US, not just their appeal rights. It's time to get the Home Security moving..we need more, not less scrutiny of those Muslim groups that would do us and US in.
