there is an answerReader comment on item: Will Prosperity End Palestinian Enmity to Israel? Submitted by patem (Ireland), Feb 19, 2006 at 14:50 One thing is certain. Subjecting people to military occupation, arbitrary expropriation of their land and water, depriving them of a means of livlihood, and subjecting them to discriminatory laws, have never created the conditions for peace in human history. Now Pipes, with his usual logic ... tells us that removing the apparatus which improverishes and humiliates the Palestinians will not create the conditions of peace either. Well well, it seems that nothing can be done then. Presumably the purpose of Pipes' argument is the circular logic of ' because nothing will work... nothing should be done', and the expropriations, humiliation, and denial of the right of Palestinian nationhood should continue. ... The ultimate conclusion of this argument (and of treating the Palestinians as pathology rather than people) is 'round 'em up, put them in cattle-trucks, and dump them in the Jordanian desert' (more radical solutions might be bad PR). One thought.... The Palestinians have never been given the opportunity of security and prosperity. best regards patem
