Reality CheckReader comment on item: Hamas vs. America Submitted by Edwina Said (United Kingdom), Apr 16, 2006 at 07:50 Has anybody actually bothered to recognise that the result of the Hamas election victory was a result of America spreading its democratic principles?! shouldn't we embrace the fact that the palestinians are trying to move toward to a kind of peace? Hamas may not be innocent but they are representing their people legitimatley which is more than can be said for a lot of nations that the western media turns a blind eye to. Peace is a two-way street, Hamas are willing to negotiate if Israel do the same. Try not to be too media orientated in your facts, you'll find if you pick up some literature it opens up and interesting, rarely reported side of the argument for peace. I personally wish the Israelis and Palestinians my best wishes in moving towards peace.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
