Market-driven, just like Kosher for PassoverReader comment on item: Saudis Impose Their Way on Westerners Submitted by Dan Schwartz (United States), Apr 19, 2006 at 16:56 I agree with Professor Pipes that this incident is worth mentioning; but in this particular case I'm not quite so cynical, for several reasons:1) Unlike government-mandated conduct, this is a voluntary commercial transaction where both parties entered into it with their eyes wide open. In fact, I would chalk it up to "customer service;" 2) Along these lines, keep in mind that hotels are in the HOSPITALITY industry... 3) Let's use two analogies that we can all agree is benign: (A) Offering Kosher meals to hotel banquet and room guests, where at times an Orthodox Rabbi comes to the kitchen to inspect and bless the food and food prep equipment, and (B) Asking the front desk to disable pornographic content from the TV feed when I check into a hotel or motel. [By the way, do YOU do this when you're on the road, especially with your kids in tow?!]
