re: Sane OneReader comment on item: Islamic Law at Belmont U Submitted by true believer (India), May 2, 2006 at 09:46 sane one, Find my replies to your comments.Your own sane comments are enclosed in square brackets[] [Free Speech is great, but hate speech is pretty useless other than to prove that we still have free speech.] Nobody is saying that the cartoons were a great thing or the perfect expression of free speech. But the violent reaction to it was really really unwarranted, and an attempt to stifle all forms of free speech. I mean no community or group has a God-given right to decide on the limits of free speech outside law. [ The government didn't go after any of the cartoon drawers or threaten prosecution, so we still obviously have free speech.] What the heck are you trying to say ? The government didn't go after the cartoonists, because it was not an islamic govt, but the violent islamists surely did use their god-given freedom of expression for doing the same, and the government is/was very much helpless to prevent it. Poor Van Gogh was not killed by the government. [ Economic boycotts and non-violent means of protesting the speech of others are perfectly acceptable and are also a form of speech that should be protected (of course few of you want to do that). ] So you believe in non-violence eh ? Try talking non-violence to some mollah who is hell bent on blowing your a-s sky high.( maybe you would enjoy that, but I don’t.) Or next time an airplane comes crashing down on your head, you can decide to boycott Saudi Oil. Or are you the future pilot ? Is"non violent means of protesting" perfectly acceptable to you ? In that case you should condemn the protests to the Danish cartoons as they were anything but violent. [Don't whine because Muslims don't allow for their prophet to be denegrated while Christians and Jews don't stand up for their religious figures.] That is exactly what I am saying "Don't Whine" . darn it !, do something to stop this crappy islamist behavior. Christians and Jews are too civilized and "sane" to kill and burn at random. Fools take this as a sign of weakness. And our religious figures do not need us to “stand up” and protect them, they don’t expect us to kill people and burn things to honour them. Standing up for your rights does not justify killing some unknown innocent at random thousand miles away or burning anything that is flamable. You seem to have got a real perverted notion about defending your rights.
[ 90% of what is written on this website is whining because one group or another was "PC", i.e. sensitive toward others.] Now you are the one who is whining. Nobody forced you to visit this site and read it. Nobody even asked for your “sane” opinion. Anyways you have got the right to whine. [I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't go around drawing crude pictures of people to protect our God-given rights.] For once, you are right, Jesus Christ is not a cartoonist. He is God in flesh. [ Let's be clear, the main reason those drawing were created was for cash money, not for preserving fundamental values. That is why they don't publish anti-Semitic cartoons, which are just as controversial and would cause a similar uproar and job-loss.] Hmm. That is news to me. I didn’t know that drawing cartoons was that lucrative. Did anybody ? Maybe Da Vinci shud've tried painting mohammed instead of Jesus. Just try putting this into the brains of your brethren, the crazy mollas with whom you sympathize. By the way, did you mean “fundamentalist values” ? [ Also, wherever you are coming from, congratulations, you are the modern day bigot!] NO THANKS. This compliment applies to you, not me. A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions differing from his own. Either you don't realise it or you need some help with your vocabulary. [If you fear Muslim conspiracies or are enraged by the fact that they stick up for themselves, or that other groups are compassionate toward them when they are slandered, then guess what you are a proud member of the new bigot class. You get to join the ranks of the Nazis, the Slave Owners, and the Inquisitors in this annal of history.] I don’t mind moslems or even islamists for that matter sticking up for what they think is right the "legal" way. Every one from women to gays and blacks to animal kissers did stick up for their rights in the “right way” and got them. They did not blow themselves up or burn stuff to earn/enforce their rights. Bigot again ? You won’t find bigger bigots than radical islamists and their sympathetic commies. And these very bigots ( your sane self included ) dare to accuse others of bigotry ! I hope you have got it right by this time. I would rather not mind being called nazi or slave owner or an inquisitor by some idiot than simply than suck up to the islamists and look "politically" correct. By the way, does your "sympathy group" include China & N Korea ? The last time I heard about them, they were busy passing nukes to Iran, probably to prevent islamists from being slandered in USA.
