"Walls have only limited utility..." True, but...Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Israeli Incursion into Gaza Submitted by Elaine (United States), Jun 30, 2006 at 17:21 "...walls have only limited utility. ..."Terrorists can also go over a fence in gliders, around it in boats, or under it in tunnels. They can ignore it by firing mortars or rockets. They can pass through checkpoints using false identification papers. They can recruit Israeli Arabs or Western sympathizers." True, but all the same arguments could be made for why it isn't worth it to have vaults and bars and alarm systems in our banks. Bank robbers can circumvent all of these given enough time and effort and tries. But the point is, even thought they don't prevent every bank robbery, they prevent enough to make them worth having. The same point can be made about the Israeli wall. Will it prevent every attempt to defeat it? No, but will it prevent enough to make it worthwhile? I suspect yes.
