I greatly enjoy reading Dr. Pipes columns and find his insights illuminating, so my comment, while appearing to be nitpicking, is not meant as such. His comments about things not yet having happened is valid, something that has not happened indeed may happen. But the issue is misstated, it is the likelihood of something happening that is relevant. The likelihood that islam will reform itself is vanishingly small, and to use a calculus analogy, in the limit approaches zero. That is the relevant metric.
