Saudis take one step forward and five steps backReader comment on item: Saudis Condemn Hamas and Hizbullah Submitted by Dr RJP (United States), Jul 17, 2006 at 08:28 A pat on the back to the Saudis for at least recognizing that the current conflict is not all the results of Israel, but due to "...rash adventures carried out by elements inside the state and those behind them without consultation with the legitimate authority in their state and without consultation or coordination with Arab countries" (namely Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad backed by Syria and Iran -- although not named, of course). But, I have to give them a kick in the butt for adding what amounts to a disclaimer at the end: "The Kingdom will continually seek for security and stability in the region, exerting everything that it can do to protect the Arab nation from an Israeli oppression and transgression." It's failure to acknowledge that the same "rogue groups" carrying out terrorist attacks inside and outside Israel, and NOT Israel, who are the ones directly threatening the Kingdom of Saud and many other Arab countries and they are the ones who need to be eliminated. Once again, they take the low road by focusing on "Israeli oppression" while ignoring its own oppression inside its kingdom that is 1,000 times greater than anythnig Israel has ever supposedly done. Plus, they need to bear the responsibility for creating the conflicts we see in other parts of the world between the Wahhabist Muslims they created and people of other religions, especially Christians.
