US & OPEC-a junkie and her dealer

The title may sound ugly, and anti-American, but it was the rather graphic, yet apt way that I heard this described by a noted (CONSERVATIVE) theologian! The US is so beholden to the oil interests, and the Saudis in particular, that we are willing to do anything to appease them-even when it harms us!. Not only in the ways that you describe in this very appropriate article, but even here at home- turning a blind eye to Saudi funding of radical islamist groups in this country, or in selling them state of the art arms and weaponry. This, despite their rather questionable record of supporting terrorist groups around the world, and their rather obvious links to groups like al-kaida.
