America and Saudi AmericaReader comment on item: The Scandal of U.S.-Saudi Relations Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Jan 10, 2003 at 11:42 America, Israel and Great Britain along with every democratic nation have only enemies and oil interests in Saudi Arabia. We must divest ourselves from this corrupt theocracy which is an enemy to all democratic nations. We must find another alternative to fuel our energy needs and we need to do so quickly. Many years ago I worked for a firm which handled Saudi investments in the United States. One of the two thousand princes needed a 747 which was procured and a presentation of the proposed sale was sent. I was told to send the presentation via Federal Express. I needed an address but was told that no address was needed because the package would be delivered to this royal upon name alone. I was told "He is Saudi Arabia." "L'etat c'est moi." "I am the state" prounounced Louis XIV and so it is in Saudi Arabia. The riches Saudi Arabia's vast oil wealth is meant for a few. There are no schools, no freedoms and no institutions. Women cannot leave their homes, drive a car, appear in public without the berka without their husband's permission. Its education system consists of madrasas where the main thrust of studies is to hate the West and in particular America and Israel which is viewed as a Western country. Saudi Arabia is a Sixth Century state where the ruling class has progressed to the Eighteenth Century. Saudi Arabia has kidnapped American citizens and imprisoned them in the world of Islam where they have become slaves to the men who rule them. The American courts which have ruled that the children cannot be removed from American soil because they are American citizens have been ignored. Our State Department has been uncooperative and obliging to these despots and Saudi Arabia has not had to follow any law but their own even on American soil. The Saudi government believes that all that transpires about Saudi Arabia comes under the Geneva convention that protects diplomatic communications of foreign nations that have embassies on American soil. The Saudis even believe that documents pertaining to public relations, buying sprees and personal correspondence having nothing whatever to do with diplomacy and everything to do with breaking the law are protected under this convention. This insanity is prevalent only among the Saudis. Other countries understand the difference between diplomatic immunity and public relations aiding and abetting kidnapping. Interesting protection developed in the Western world for a country that despises the West. Ah, but this is Saudi Arabia, the self proclaimed Islamic kingdom with two thousand princes, with a penchant for Harvard, millions of paupers, slaves posing as wives and institutions promoting Western hatred. Perhaps Saudi Arabia is so corrupt that the government believed that the fifteen dispicable hijackers on September 11th could slip by America's notice. After all did not the Saudi Arabian Bin Laden family obtain America's permission to fly out of the country on September 11, unscathed and unquestioned. Perhaps it was nievete and not hubris on the part of the American government. Saudi Arabia is as corrupt as every other imperialist Islamic nation. Kidnapping, slavery (outlawed as late as 1967), murder, terrorism, mass killing of Americans is acceptable because the Saudi's got oil and the West needs it. We either get off oil or we go after the Saudis which we should have done immediately after we learned that fifteen of the nineteen hijackers were Saudis. There is not one imperialist, corrupt and hateful Islamic nation that is an ally to the United States. They will come to kill us again. Perhaps, we have not learned all there is to know about the importance of retaliation ordered by the Constituion and the United Nations Charter (which none of the member nations seem to know even exists). Maybe living in New York and watching the horror of the towers collapse and learning that wonderful courageous and innocent family members died for nothing. Those of us that lived and lost in New York smelled the remains of the day for almost a year. The cloud of death hung over the City for six months. The streets were haunted and still are. And, perhaps it will be the families (and I'm one of them) whose loved ones died that horrible day that with the force of the moral high ground will bankrupt the Saudi government and begin the process of dismantling Islam. Islam is a burden to the earth. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
