[5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Refers to the jews and christians who at the time was out to kill the prophet(pbuh) and other muslims. It was a warning to be careful of who to trust.

You can also read the koran and it also tell muslims to treat christians,jews and other faiths with respect for they are also people of the book.(The word that G-d sent before Islam). And to answer your question....if you choose not to believe then that is between you and G-d, the faith that was brought before you or the faith that you follow is indeed the word of G-d. The koran tells us that although it is the word... the book has been corrupted for mans use of power. Also that it's not the christian's or jew 's fault for you follow what you think is G-ds full and true word is. You are indeed people who are on the right path but it is the fault of the men who choose to change the bible for their on achievements before hand.

Muslims are also allowed to marry other faiths and no islam is not suppose to be forced on people. But instead muslims should be good examples in life. By doing and living the word of G-d then people would see and choose to become muslims themselves or be better christians or jews. That's what islam is!!
