Abu Minyar (qaddaffi)Reader comment on item: Gideon's Spies Submitted by Daniel Martin Joseph Tobin (United States), Jan 13, 2003 at 14:50 Hello: My brother Mark Lawrence Christopher Tobin was among the 270 murdered in the bombing of Pan Am Flight #103 on the eighth day of hannakah and four days before Christmas.Afterwards I was voted onto the Board of Directors for the Victims of Pan Am Flight #103 and met with then-Sec.State Albright and Nat.Sec.Adviser Berger and United Nations Ambassador Bill Richardson to promote the prosecution of the case. I attended the trial for one week in 2000, and the Appeal in Feb.2002. Unfortunately Abu Minyar (the Arabic birthname of "Col. Muammar Qaddaffi) is still alive, although the convicted agent was on the Libyan dictator's payroll. I want to know about this "Syrian connection" since then-President.Bush said "Syria got a bum rap on this".Thanks for your time, Respectfully Yours, Dan Tobin Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Daniel Pipes replies: I have always thought the Syrian intermediary role in the downing of Pan Am 103 has been purposefully downplayed for political reasons.DP Reader comments (11) on this item
