SaidReader comment on item: Columbia University Celebrates Edward Said Submitted by Marcus Kaplan (United States), Apr 20, 2003 at 16:32 I have just had the opportunity to read this article and find it depressing. How does a university like Columbia fall under the evil spell of so called professors of higher learning. Is the overall faculty and the individuals running this institution so gullilble, or are they just against any and all things that might have a tinge of Loyalty, fidelity, and the right to stand up for what is morally true and correct. I have also been listening to the news on Fox, and discover that our President now feels that the Syrians are on the right track and we do not need to go into the Bekkah valley and destroy the group called Hezballah, who have sworn to destry the evil countries called U.S., and Israel. What is going on now, are we making every effort to appease our arch enemy Syria. It certainly looks like our President and his Secretary of State are hiding behind their coattails. Mr. Pipes can you give me an answer if possible on this very perplexing question.Truly yours, Marty and Carol Kaplan
