Said is entitled to his opinionReader comment on item: Columbia University Celebrates Edward Said Submitted by Khaldoun Khelil (United States), Apr 28, 2003 at 20:07 Really, to say that Edward Said and Osama Bin laden have inter changeble views is incredulous.Edward Said hardly says Arafat is too nice to the Israelis, he blames him for kowtowing to American pressure and selling out his principles of a Palestinian state for those inside the occupied territories and those displaced out of Israel proper after 1948. If you would read Said's works, he obviously calls for a singular state in which mutual respect and democracy prevails, instead of the current mainstream view of two ethnically elite states glaring at one another over an unsecurable border.
