PHYSICIAN , HEAL THYSELF - I respect your opinions but I disagree on your reason to mock the USReader comment on item: Next Steps in Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process Submitted by Nabil Shawarma (Canada), Mar 19, 2007 at 08:41 Although I live in frigid Canada and it is easy for me to comment, surrounded by the frigid north, the USA, Atlantic and Pacific oceans, I cannot swallow the gist of your argument, even if you are an MD. YOu said "Look at the American civil war, look at the abysmal violence of American versus American 80 years after independence!!" - I see that as a people defending their land from a Northern invader ( in their opinion) with their blood ( "dum"). The Palestinians chant that in the streets of London ( "... bi dum ...). THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE FACING DOC !!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, of all the countries in the West, you single out your lone ally. Normal Western Country - political infighting, financial corruption, minimal political violence, arrogant muslim citizens, gays demanding parades, hmm, yes, sounds like Israel after all ( sharon, olmert, kadima, Dana International, etc.. ). The threat of separation by the Quebecois is exagerated. They are older now and more worried about their mortgages and their pensions. The majority have no desire to vote for Boisclair, an openly gay male and until only recently, a cocaine user. Bottom Line: Israelis are not the Israelites. They voted for Olmert, they knew his past and also knew how inept Sharon was against suicide bomber after suicide bomber after suicide bomber. Appearing on TV almost sobbing like a baby. Israelis take these lying down. I talk to my Israeli born clients about Israel. Only i raise the topic. They prefer not to talk about it. They are all liberals and I am the lone conservative. They all lean either towards labor or Kadima. Netanyahu? Lo, too rough. Where is the nobility in attacking a stop sign or abandoned warehouse in response to a suicide attack on a bakery? When I raise these issues to these creatures, I get the same response: We all have to learn to live together. I am not saying that the diaspora Jews are better. On the contrary. I AGREE they are part of the problem, voting for their liberal- minded party in USA, Canada, England, Germany ( maybe not France, but who knows). Do you actually believe that someone better will come along? I hope Lieberman is not a sell out And Gilad Shalit? Are Israelis more demanding that Olmert find him or more demanding that Olmert reduce sales tax by 2%. There should be hundreds of thousands of Israelis lining Dizengoff halting all traffic to the caffe latte shops, demanding that the military do something brutal to influence Hamas Too many Israelis are more concerned about their vacations in Thailand or India, and how they will look on CNN, unfortunately.
