In Search of Moderate MuslimsReader comment on item: Stephen Schwartz and the Center for Islamic Pluralism Submitted by Buzz Gunning (United States), Apr 11, 2007 at 09:38 It's very like the old children's game of 'Blind Man's Bluff'. I hear so much about 'Moderate Muslims' that I am compelled to assume that amongst the millions of Muslims (billions?) there must be one. Other than a few well written blogs by what appear to be moderates, I find no uniform outreach of a people determined to rid themselves of the stigma of Radical Islam. What do we hear from the 2,000 or so Mosques in the U.S. ? Nothing. So, it's guilty until proven innocent. It's a bad attitude I know, and it flies in the face of the core of our jurisprudence, but the silence is deafening and is construed to mean consent or fear. In either case it is supportive of the radical's cause. Moderates, if indeed they exist, must speak out. Are there no Patrick Henry's in your midst? As a corollary, there don't appear to be any Churchill's in ours, so maybe we are doomed together.
