Great to See Muslims think this is stupid tooReader comment on item: Islam Dispatches Santa Claus, the Bible, and Winnie the Pooh Submitted by DebraT (United States), Apr 11, 2007 at 14:30 I really think some of these decisions are being made in a pre-emptive fashion - ie. people are so afraid of causing offense that they are going overboard with silly things like the piggy banks and so on. Why can't we allow people their personal beliefs but also expect them to have the maturity and tolerance to accept cultural expressions outside of those beliefs? Christians will wear crosses and carry Bibles, Muslims will carry their Koran and some of the women prefer to wear a veil, western countries have traditions like santa claus and piggy banks. I'm sure if I lived in an Arab country their would be many cultural expressions rooted in Islam. Banning airline employees from wearing Christian crosses is stupid. If an airline employee is Muslim and wants to wear a headscarf to her job, why should this offend me? She's Muslim, for God sake. And for God's sake, a Christian employee may want to wear a cross. A mature and tolerant person of any religion should understand these simple facts of life.
