Your article "Arabia's Civil War"Reader comment on item: Arabia's Civil War Submitted by M.Dunsky (United States), May 14, 2003 at 16:27 Mr Pipes:For the first time ever I have found myself not in total agreement with your opinions. What you counsel (even if it would work) would amount to a continuation of the present situation - a coddling of that barbaric pre-medieval state. Is Saudi oil so important? The world is awash with oil! And what would the Saudis do with all their admittedly better and cheaper oil? Drink it? Why is America so frightened and intimidated by Saudi Arabia? It has the upper hand. And it carries a very big stick. I may be very naive and uninformed. But it doesn't make very much sense to me.
