Re a Satanic affair

Reader comment on item: A Satanic Affair: Salman Rushdie and the Rage of Islam

Submitted by Wayne Easton (United Kingdom), May 30, 2003 at 20:48

Some years ago I bought a copy of A Satanic Affair, it's only in the last week or so I've become hooked nightly on reading it's pages.
I finid it thoroughly interesting, delving into the reaction of muslims to the Satantic Verses & in my opinion their over-reactions.
Not having Read the Satanic Verses so far I find Malise Ruthvens book far more thought provoking & interesting. Perhaps one of these days I'll get the S Verses myself & see what all the fuss was about.
I'm still trying to work out how the Muslim faith can be tolerant on one hand & so reactionary on the other. Really is time I think that factions within that faith got a grip....
