The Road MapReader comment on item: [The Road Map:] Learning from Oslo Submitted by Ken Besig (Israel), Jun 10, 2003 at 12:57 I predict that the Road Map peace plan will fail within a few weeks for two very simple reasons: Arab unwillingness to make peace with the Jewish State of Israel and the fact that the Road Map itself is little more than a sad rehash of all the failed elements of every other failed "Plan for Peace in the Middle East."The Arab world in general and the Palestinians in particular will never accept a non Arabic non Moslem Jewish State in the Middle East. Indeed, I would characterize the Arab notion of relations with Jewish Israel as something like the Nazi Final Solution, only in this case it would be "The Arab Final Solution to the Jewish Problem in the Middle East." That is to say, the physical destruction of Jewish Israel with the extermination or expulsion of her Jewish inhabitants. The Road Map itself simply rehashes and rewords the failed formulae of every other failed peace plan presented in the region. The main practical problem of Palestinian/Israeli relations, apart from the implacable Palestinian hatred and denial of Jewish sovereign rights, is the unremitting armed Palestinian terrorist attacks on innocent Jewish Israelis. Just like every single predecessor of the Road Map, this is the problem which is just not addressed by the Road Map in any concrete and meaningful way. That is, the Palestinian terrorist groups are only verbally condemned by the new leadership, when they should and must be broken up, their leadership jailed, their arms and explosives confiscated, and these arms and explosives destroyed, along with all the other caches and warehouses full of illegal arms and explosives. If the Bush administration really wants to end Palestinian/Israeli violence, it must demand and supervise the complete disarming of the Palestinian terror militias once and for all, and strictly oversee the weapons the Palestinian Authority is permitted to possess. To put it simply, we have to take their guns and bombs away, period. So long as the Palestinians have weapons, no peace plan will ever succeed. The Palestinians will literally blow it to pieces along with as many innocent Jewish Israelis they can. My only real worry about this peace plan is how many innocent Jews will be murdered by the Palestinians and buried along with it .
