Reader comment on item: The Middle East Explodes with Obesity

Submitted by Dr. Mohammed Tamer (Saudi Arabia), May 31, 2007 at 11:58

Dear Sir,

with all my respect to the freedom of expression, i find it too bizzare to understand what you listed about Obesity in Middle East! I am not sure if a single case can give conclusion about the middle east. Yes, we do have a shooting up percentage of Obesity in children and adolescents, this is matching with the global data and with US solid statistics as well, being related to changing behaviors as well as the increased consumption of junk food, a product of civilization! The diet regimen that you described is something that i have never heard about! i have lived in 3 middle east countries, and in my work i am travelling to each middle east country at least twice a year.

Best Regards
