Makes no sense...a few answers plz by anyoneReader comment on item: [UNRWA:] The Refugee Curse Submitted by BananaTribe (Australia), Aug 22, 2003 at 01:35 Sorry call me stupid, but what you're trying to tell me (or what I may have mistakenly gathered) is that a refugee is a refugee - but the son of a refugee is no longer a refugee; because he/she has a new nationality depending on where he/she is born?"Cubans who flee the Castro regime are refugees, but not so their Florida-born children who lack Cuban nationality" O.k., the Cuban example follows logic, (i.e. the UN high commission definition of refugee makes sense) but how does that apply to Palestinians or for that matter anyone who is born in refugee camps? (Thus the whole reason for the creation UNRWA) A Palestinian born in a Lebanese refugee camp is Lebanese? Nope! A Palestinian refugee who Childs a Palestinian, IN EXACTLY THE SAME CONIDITIONS, (i.e. no self determined Palestinian state) Why?? … it is created so that Palestinians & their nation, & their children SURVIVE with identity. Your argument would only have Zionist nodding... at a new way to redefine a people "no such thing as a Palestinian" And one more thing; (I open these argument to anyone who commented) "In every other instance, the pain of dispossession, statelessness, and poverty has diminished over time. Refugees eventually either resettled, returned home or died." ...So Palo refugees should either resettle, return home or die; A) resettle; I guess that means anywhere but Israel (correct me if I'm wrong) B) return home? I guess that's anywhere but Israel again (even if they do view it as home) or C) do Israel a favor and be like other good refugees and die off. Author's Note: It's not Israel's problem, fault and of course, they/I are not the cause; nor should they/we have a responsibility in reconciling the people, or reconstructing infrastructures as a form of compensation, its all the arabs fault!" "It's high time to help these generations of non-refugees escape the refugee status so they can become citizens, assume self-responsibility and build for the future" Agreed!!! How about a fully functional self determined state, without roadblocks and settlements? So judging by most other head-nodders that commented on this article, I will make the assumption that once again the rest of the intellect world's concerns & definitions are all wrong, and I, like the rest of the world should put on my Zionist shaded sunglasses to view... , what ... self proclaimed "real victims" call truth... Do me a favor, as I said correct me, im very open - or just call me stupid.
