How can this guy not be in the Administration?Reader comment on item: The Worst Book of 2007? Submitted by Charles Martel (United States), Sep 25, 2007 at 10:04 A career diplomat, a big business partner and seditious sell-out to Islam for money who is not in the Administration? He has the perfect credentials for the Bush White House -- I'm surprised he doesn't have a policy post to forward Moslem interests while the getting is good. Maybe he's a Democrat and will do the same things when Bush's incompetence hands it to Hillary next year? I'm curious about Dr. Pipes citing this as a statement that should be refuted: "Al-Qaeda is basically a Muslim Brethren offshoot." I would say that is true -- Extreme Sunnis certainly influenced by MB thinker Qutb.

Daniel Pipes replies: There are various schools of Sunni Islamism, of which the MB, the Wahhabis, and Deobandis are the most influential. Al-Qaeda is mostly a Wahhabi phenomenon, with some influences from the other schools, to be sure. << Previous Comment Next Comment >> Reader comments (20) on this item
