Monkey hear, monkey sayReader comment on item: The Worst Book of 2007? Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Oct 28, 2007 at 19:39 Gene W. Heck is a parrot. The nine points Dr. Pipes uses to illustrate Heck's book are the same, almost verbatim, explainations and arguments that I've heard Muslims drone. The only exception is Heck's claim that Shari'a Law is "completely consonant with the Hague and Geneva Conventions". He must have been smoking some really good chit to come up with that one. I've had conversations with Muslims who, during the course of the conversation, repeat alot of what Heck claims in his book. The sad thing is they seem to believe what they're saying. They heard it from their Mullah or from Al-Jazeera or from Wickipedia (so it has to be true). When you point out that nowhere in the Old Testament is paradise promised to those who kill, and nowhere does it demand conversion at the point of a sword, a Muslim is not sure if you're trying to fool him the same way he's trying to fool you. Gene Heck seems to have also adopted that curios form of polite insinuation, insult cloaked in language of accomidation, that very often I have heard Muslims use; example, "those who decry present perceived religious suppression, presumed political suppression, and alleged civil rights violations in certain Middle East states where Islam is practiced". Perceived, presumed, alleged - the use of these words is insulting, while at the same time, they are a polite encouragement for the listener to join the millions of other Muslims who fall for the lie that is Islam. The book should have been published with the subtitle: "A Case Study in Islamic Brainwashing". -JS
