One of the paradoxes found in history is that history is a process of linear activities moving in the direction of time. There is no going back, and going forward, though fraught with choices, will always move mankind one more step ahead. In spite of that, it sometimes seems like everything is going in circles. Go figure.

Notice, the process is supposed to be going one step ahead, an optimistic term. We look at the turmoil around the world and one has to wonder, are we really better off than our predecessors? Or have the various societies around the planet only managed to put off certain inevitable consequences of humanistic thinking by some clever ad campaign to take our eyes off the true blight of world circumstances.

The Jewish nation was declared in ancient times to be the center of the oracles of the Most High God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The promise to Abraham to be the possessor and progenitor of the faith that would lead to believing Jesus Christ as Savior, Redeemer and Kings of kings over the land now properly called Israel, is being kept, right down to the very last word.

Dr. Pipes presents and is presented as a contemporary expositor of the modern debate of the circumstances facing the world today, and what is being faced by every man, woman and child, which is nothing less than the fight for the very essence and being of every person who ever lived, is alive, or is to be born in the very short remnant of existence left to this world. His task is unenviable, but necessary.

Temporally speaking, humankind has been in a fight since the beginning of the human existence, a fight against a power greater than all, and against a power of a lesser nature, but still more powerful that humanity can withstand. In and of itself, humanity cannot win: indeed if left to its own resources, humanity would destroy itself within a generation. Hence, there is the desperate the need for a Savior, in the Person of Jesus Christ. Everybody needs Him. Jesus Christ offers hope instead of dreams.

Opposing Jesus Christ in the current debate is Islam. Although there may be a philosophical acknowledgment of the existence of Jesus Christ in a more urbane practice of being Muslim, the core practice of Islam is to remove the true identity of Jesus Christ and replace Him with either a nominal mention of his being some teacher of sorts, or complete elimination of His mention altogether. Their problem, indeed the problem of all who espouse such rhetoric whether being Muslim or of another belief, is that Jesus Christ cannot be replaced, ignored, or eliminated. He is central to every life, whether one believes or not.

We have said, they have said, all are saying that a war of ideologies is being fought here, and bloodletting is being fought over there as we ponder these things. Over the years the ideologies have had different colors, but it comes down to who gets to rule the world, and who gets the land of Israel. That was what the crusades were about a thousand years ago, and that is the battle Islam is bringing to us today. For them it is not a pipedream, but the blood they are tasting in their ideologically driven battles gives them the impetus to carry the fight started by their Prophet so long ago. Again, their problem is they cannot win, since as stated before, that Jesus Christ cannot be replaced, ignored, or eliminated.

We mentioned that in spite of the linear nature of history, there seems to be this attempt to go back to a time ago to retrieve something lost, such as the current mentality to retrieve a world dominant caliphate administering sharia law. The ‘Palestinian' issue notwithstanding, they want it in Jerusalem. Actually, they might get a chance to achieve it, but for a short while. As we mention once again, they will not be able to get past their single greatest problem, that Jesus Christ cannot be eliminated.

And the sooner the Jewish nation realizes that as well, the better off they will be also. Such is the promise given to Abraham, and it will never be given away.
