a cry: Enough!Reader comment on item: Turkey, Still a Western Ally? Submitted by Mel (United States), Dec 8, 2007 at 23:40 In Turkey, many has been trying to cope with many things. Like reforming economical, religious, cultural, judicial areas. And getting virtually no real assistance and hand from so-called west. Only--as you can see-- hostility. Read the messages throughly, see the slogans. I even saw people who has written about Byzantine Empire and--of course lots of--WWI. And this is getting sicker and sicker every day. Some facts: Turkey has virtually no raw petroleum income, except refined exports, but it is the 17th largest economy of the world as of 2006. 80% of the publishing in all of the muslim population in all over the world comes from Turkey, and even not two percent of it consists as religioun related. Whether in Turkey there is wide spread attacks to Christians; We can just check the news agencies. In the last fifteen years there has been four religious hate related murders committed. Yet in Germany eight Turkish people were burnt down. Which, yes it would prove absolutely nothing, but many like to play with numbers. Though, neither in Turkey nor in Germany I haven't seen any gross hostility towards people from other ethnicities. The biggest mistake of Turkish people, they have absolutely no idea about PR. So, they let go, which is a eastern thing. Spain, has shut down numerous political parties just in last twenty year, and imprisons members of Batasuna. But this is not a problem, because Spain is ideally a joyful and sunny heaven, so who cares about some banned political party. Weirdly enough in Turkey, a group of people, who never accepts the terrorist nature of PKK, can be members of parliament (22) and mayors (54). Weirdly enough, once more, BBC gives lots of news about "honor murders","female suicides" or namely "feudal crimes", and always never gives the real detailed information. Like 100% of such crimes are committed in the east region, which 100% of the victimized women are Kurdish and murderers are Kurdish too. There are countless studies, made by United Nations and UNICEF even by European Union institutes about these issues, if you'd like, they are all in public share on the web, and you can see the breakdowns. But, again, Do you care about these? No, because for people it is the game. It's like being a fan of a soccer club. Important thing is how I perceive based on my prejudices and ideal concepts, which has no connection with reality. Overall, sorry to state like this, but as an inquirer, for me, it is usually a fanatic nonsense.
