The Six Day WarReader comment on item: [Michael Oren's] "Six Days of War" Submitted by Luke (United States), Dec 20, 2007 at 21:30 I am a Jewish teen ager, i had my bar mitazvah last year and my dad thought it was really important to go to Israel. We are not very religious jews, we go to sunday school and go to temple on the high holidays. This summer me and my family went on a trip to Israel, Egypt and Jordan. It was a totally different and new experience for me. From the time the plane landed in Jerusalem, i was completely taken withIsrael. I felt like i was at home, and i had never been there before. I was so taken by the Western Wall and all the notes people have left in it. But most of all. i was overtaken by The Jewish Peoples love for there courty. They have beaten all odds, in the holocaust and in two wars where they were out numbered 100 to one. The Jews had something to fight for, Israel was the first place that was a home for Jews. We had been persecuted ever since Moses lead us from slavery in biblical times. When we also visited Jordan and Egypt, former enemies of Israel. I was amazed that there is peace now, because of such a war struck past. I wasnt suprised, but all the millitary personnel at borders and questioning we recieved showed that there still is no trust between Israel and its Arab Neighbors. On our last few days, driving to get on a boat to get back to Tel Aviv To fly home, we drove by a refugee camp where our taxi driver said 50,000 refugess from the war where. They were displaced by the war, and The Arab countries were'nt accepting them back into their country because they want the world sympathy for their cause.
