beach boy dreamsReader comment on item: Surfboards to Reduce Arab-Israeli Tensions? Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Dec 31, 2007 at 15:51 If Mr. Paskowitz really believes that giving surfboards to some surfing residents of Gaza will bring about peace, then I'm afraid that he's been in the water too long. Daniel Barenboim tried to bring about unity with an orchestra of mixed Palestinians and Israelis; a lovely gesture but hardly a permanent solution. Handing out largesse might work temporarily, but very soon that warm, fuzzy feeling wears off and reality sets in. The enmity between Palestinians and Israelis goes back thousands of years, and just because it is nearly 2008, it doesn't mean that this situation will be resolved in our lifetime. Although I believe that Mr. Paskowitz , and all like him, are sincere in their generosity, their good deeds look silly and sentimental, and have been a waste of time and money.
