This is our world and it has been entrusted to us all, how we pass it on to the next generation is the responsibility of all of us.Reader comment on item: The London Markaz Submitted by HAROON (United Kingdom), Mar 8, 2008 at 12:25 Hi G. Vishvas What an interesting name you have.... a name that means faith, belief and hope and yet you have none! What a shame. ... I don't know about you but this is a free country and a free world, we all live in the free world. Freedom & respect are central to our society here in the UK. I stand by my original comments of which you edited out the bit that did not suit you! Strange hey....! For your benefit and others, I have included my comments here to which you have replied to; My original comments posted as below Submitted by haroon (United Kingdom), Aug 25, 2007 at 10:44 ‘I feel that you are unaware of your surroundings. This is a beautiful country and the people are very nice. It is my sweet home. It has some great policies and maybe some questionable ones. This is not a secular state; I hope it never becomes one either. I am a Muslim (that is a person that practices the religion Islam) Islam is an Arabic word that means Peace. If the Christians wanted to build a massive church then that is fine by me and I am sure that none of the Muslim community would oppose such a proposal. In fact I would love to see more of my Christian brothers and sisters going to church and building more churches. Its demand and supply the basics……. As for your comments about the numbers of Muslims, I would really take a harder look next time you are on your travels. As the last time I looked around me in a mosque I saw Muslims around me from all walks of life and all skin colours, dressed in all types of clothes. Don't make that silly old mistake of judging a book by its cover…. Your comments demonstrate your naivety. Go and seek some knowledge about Islam and Muslims. In fact it might be a good idea if we all tired to understand each other rather than assuming things. All the best I pray Peace be with you all. Ameen' End of original comments I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but people should check if these comments actually make sense first. I feel your theories would not survive close scrutiny. As for building places of worship for worshipers of any religion, this should not be restricted worldwide. This is our world and it has been entrusted to us all, how we pass it on to the next generation is the responsibility of all of us. I suggest you study the history of Islam. You will see that even at the time of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him. You will see that no one was forced to take up Islam and become a Muslim. Within Islam, there is room for everyone, in fact Islam teaches, love, peace and respect for one and all mankind. Your comment about none Islamic history being taught, I don't think Islamic history is ever taught to anyone. This is where most problems stem from, and this gives rise to misconceptions as we don't actually know or want to know in some cases. You see people form views of Islam mostly through the negative coverage by the world press. These ideas become fixed in simple people's minds, like yourself. In regards to your comments about people leaving Islam; well I ask where they even Muslims to begin with? i.e. did they accept Islam as their religion or not? You see, this is the thing about following a religion one has the choice to believe in it. Also more importantly it is a very personal thing and can't be forced upon anyone, it is your agreement/ understanding with Allah or whatever you wish to call him. Besides people have the right to belive in what they want. I hope and pray, may Allah guide all upon the right path, Ameen. Peace and respect to all.
