DI Response to Letter

I am a student at University of Illinois and I found it somewhat comforting that the Daily Illini did publish Dr. Pipes letter to the editor in its December 10th edition, although partially edited. I thought they were at least open to the idea of giving Dr. Pipes an opportunity to address some of the attacks by the DI.

However, that newfound respect for the DI was quickly diminished on December 12th, when they ran an editorial in response written by Arsalan Iftikhar, from the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a known critic of Dr. Pipes.

They have yet again shown their true agenda by refusing to allow an Op-Ed piece by Pipes, (yet they did allow the abbreviated letter), while immediately thereafter allowing a piece written by an outspoken critic.


Thank God students at the university think little of their student newspaper. (I personally know of noone who believes the DI to be a good source of news and commentary). Although I still do read it daily, mainly for "The Way Life Should Be", and the crossword puzzle.
