A couple of caveats and questionsReader comment on item: Frontpage Interview: Daniel Pipes Submitted by Ron Thompson (United States), Dec 16, 2003 at 09:31 Superb interview.A couple of caveats and questions. I'm not sure there are ANY Muslim "moderates" anywhere on the Israeli/Palestinian issue. THat is, I simply don't believe any Muslim who is for Palestinian "rights" really doesn't still harbor the dream of the extinction of Israel. If you think there are any Muslim "moderates" on this issue, will you write a column about them? Secondly, do you think someone should propose a one-state solution for the area including Israel and the "occupied" teritories, ie. contemplating the (compensated) deportation of the Palestinians. I do not suggest this for any reason having to do with religion or the bible, but solely on geopolitical grounds. Since the core of the militant/suicide bombers' position, and the PLA authority which refuses to take them on, and (I suspect) the majority of the Palestinian population is a one-state solution ultimately overwhelming the Israelis I cannot believe nobody has said this already - if only to establish rational parameters of discussion. By not at least suggesting that the Palestinians may NEVER get a State - at least not in the "occupied" territories - I think the West is choosing to fight militant Islam with one hand tied behind its back. Why haven't you suggested such a One-state solution as an answer to the looming demographic reality and the Israeli fear, in their own and the eyes of the world, of becoming an Apartheid State? Why just stand by and let militant Islam and the Palestinian "nihilists'-" as you rightly called them - force this state of affairs on Israel?
