The Hammer Hits the NailReader comment on item: Frontpage Interview: Daniel Pipes Submitted by Darryl Williams (United States), Dec 17, 2003 at 11:34 I believe that Mr. Pipes should heretofore be known as The Hammer. His views on Islamic radicalism are sound, well founded, researched, and arrived at using a simple undeniable logic that only lies and mirrors can rebut. I have grown to admire his clarity of thought and focus on the issues. He is undeterred by fallacious arguments meant as detractors and diversions. Three cheers for "The Hammer", the truth has been nailed. I also have a comment on your puzzlement of being, "confused by the kind of people who, as you say, relish "living in exact accord" with some kind of "absolute truth."" These people are very similar to other people around the world that have lived in extremely harsh and emotionally stunting environments. Hard fathers or uncles being cruel and oppressive can develop people who wish to live in a hard and cruel manner. They may be seeking some sort of personal solution to their inner demons and pain. They believe that if the outside world mirrors their inside world then they will have achieved a balance with "nature". Their inability to be introspective without reliving the nightmares their past prevent them from applying any real psychology to their experiences and learn from it. It opens them up to manipulation; a manipulation that others are able to put to use very effectively. It is clear that these people are very similar to the serial killers around the world. They affect a grey bland world upon those around them seeking a "balance" to their "world", yet they are unable to achieve this balance. This leads them to evermore cruel and vicious punishments to be inflicted upon those around them. In turn this begins to bring the past to the forefront of their memories, and serves to cause them yet more pain. It is in fact a cycle of violence that many social workers here in the United States are familiar with. They are to be pitied. Unfortunately they are bringing their own brand of nightmare to the rest of us. So they need to be dealt with expeditiously. I will close now, DW PS: great job again DP Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
