Ignorance is not blissReader comment on item: The Dobbs List: "Militant Islam Reaches America" Submitted by Christopher A. (United States), Jan 10, 2004 at 00:37 I disagree with the manner in which you contrast Islam and Christianity ... You say, "...all the laws governing Mankind have already been promulgated and are there for all to see in the Q'oran." In truth, the Q'oran ...spells out laws little more than the Bible or the Torah. Most of the so-called Islamic laws have been made by leaders and scholars in Muslim theocracies throughout the years. To argue that this is any different from how the pharisees interpreted Mosaic law, or, more aptly, how the HOLY ROMAN EMPERORS interpreted the Bible and set it into law. To say that Judaism and Christianity have not been the supreme guiding force behind a political system is to be ignoring the blatant truth. As an interesting aside, Islam has been around since 632 a.d. (give or take roughly 20 years). Christianity was at its theocratic height, and leading it all was Pope Gregory XI, who wanted to launch another crusade against the Turkish. How is he so different from Khomeini or Ghadafi? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
