Amorphous number of Islamist adherants

One thing I've consistently noticed among Professor Pipes' writings is his lack of putting a number, a percentage of the 1400 million Muslims that are Islamists. Specifically, how about a breakdown into these three categories:

1) The hard core soldiers who belong to al Qaida, Islamic Brotherhood, and such;

2) Those who actively finance, harbor, and support them, like the Saudi princes;

3) The sympathizers in the Arab "streets" of Egypt and Pakistan.
